MAILS CLOSE. For Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika — per s.s. Kennedy, to-morrow, Thursday, at 4.30 p.m. Note. — Iq consequence of the Australian Mails being now conveyed by British Packets between Brindi|i and Alexandria, a reduction iri^Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi haa been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will therefore be as follows :— Letters. — Not exceeding \ ounce, 9d. ; exceeding $ ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce, Is. 6d. ; and so on, 9d for every additional £ ounce or fraction of \ ounce. Newspapers under 4 ounces, each 4d.; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d. Book and Pattern Parcels. — Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d. ; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d. ; exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d. ; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. 2d.; and so on, Is 2d for every additional 8 ounces or fraction of 8 ounces.
