The Canterbury Acclimatisation Society have passed a resolution offering a reward, payable on delivery, of one shilling for every large black shag killed and presented to the curator. His Excellency the Governor of South Australia has received (understands the Register) an intimation from the Secretary of State that the Imperial troops having been withdrawn from the Pacific Colonies, it will be unnecessary to take steps for the apprehension of any men who may be in such colonies in a state of desertion from their regiments. In the Hawke's Bay Provincial Council a Mr. Sutton, one of the members resident in the town of Napier wh,ere the sessions of the Council are held, moved a resolution having for its object the abolinois. of the honorarium. This was cleverly met by another resolution to tbe effect that the next session be held at Waipawa, a place some considerable distance from Napier. So far as we can learn from the local journals, Mr. Sutton has been mod^ completely checkmated. His Excellency has been pleased to delegate to the Hon. W. Gisborne, the Minister of Public Works, fuir«p(fwer and authority, so long as he shall remain such Minister, from time to time to give and 'sign all necessary notices, and, to, dp, sign and execute all such further oromer acts, deeds, matters, or things which may be "requiste under the provisions of the Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870;'
