There have been anti-tariff meetings and deputations. The funeral of Alexander took place on Sunday. Fifteen hundred volunteers, and four military bands were in attendance. There were-^housands of spectators. The s.s. Auckland has been wrecked near Cape Howe. PasseDgers and crew saved. A collision took place in the Yarra between tbe steamer Dandenong and the tug Hercules. The latter sunk. The Hunt Club steeplechase was won by Reindeer. A new paper has been published^ under the title of the Australian Israelite; A young woman named Pausey has been arrested as the reputed mother of a child found drowned. At Geelong there has lately been another horrible case of infanticide. The Rev. — Anner, of Sandhurst, has been committed for trial for a criminal assault on^a child. The Markets. — Breadstuff's slightly easier. Flour, £16 10s. to £17. Adey laide wheat, 6s. lid. New Zealand seed wheat, 6s. 6d. to 63. 9d.; milling, ss. to 6s. 4d. Sugar market easier.
