The Anchor Line Co's p.s. ChaTles Edward, arrived from the West Coast at 8 o'clock this morning. She left Nelson on Wednesday, 31st ult., at 8.30 pm., and arrived in Westport at 8 o'clock next evening. Left at 9.30 p.m. on Friday anchored off the Grey bar 4 a.m. on Saturday, entering the river at 9 a.m. Left that port at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday and crossed the Hokitika bar at half-past eleven same morning. Started at 1 1 a.m. on Monday, crossing the Grey bar at 1.15. p.m. Left again at midnight, and arrived at Westport at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, left at half-past one and arrived as above. Encountered heavy head sea on the passage to Westport, since then light winds and fine weather. She leaves at 2 p.m. tomorrow for her usual coasting trip.
