The Woman Suffragejjffln has been defended in Parliament. ikw general summary. Paris, May 4. — The Commune re-occupied Fort Icsy. General Rossel forbids any communication. The enemy refuses flags of truce lhe Versailles army are actively investing. Chisseul is to be tried for complicity with the Prussians. Shells from Versailles fell in the \i ne Vangierond ; several persons were killed in the streeets. The Prussians demand strict adherence to the terms of the capitulation. Heavy fighting between the Imperials and Communists. Fort Issy and other posts alternately captured and recaptured in fight by Clamart with terrible slaughter. Three hundred insurgents bayoneted. Engagements as to the occupation of Neuilly terminated indecisively. On May 4, the Versailles force carried one of the insurgent positions killing 150 Communists. They captured 10 cannon and made 3000 prisoners. They abandoned the position shortly after, being exposed to a heavy fire. Fort Issy is completely surrounded; the garrison cannot escape. There was a constant fire on the sth. The Castle at Issy has been burnt by shells. The Versailles batteries shelled Auteuil damarred the railway station, and compelled the inhabitants to flee. Issy fired slowly, receiving a pprffet hail of shells. Vauvres ditto. The Versaillists have captured St. Germain, and established a battery. A naval combat between gunboats is expected. The Communists occupy the trenches in the Valley of Neif, and the Versaillists unmasked a batt» ry at Moritrelle. j Th^re has been a/continuous bombardment from Montrouge without result. The Versaillists have constructed batteries at Neuillv. The shells from Valerien ignited the L-ivellois (?)
