Richmond Farmers' Club.— -A report of, the preliminary meeting of the members of this club is unavoidably held over until to-morrow. The Lady Barkly. — An alteration in the time of this, steamer's running has been made, and she is advertised to leave Motueka'' for Nelson at 8, instead of 3 o'clock on Friday evening. Gas and Water Works. — A requisition is iv course of signature to the, representatives of tho town, in. the Provincial Council inviting them to attend a public meeting for , the purpose of " eliciting from them an expression of their opinions as to the, proposed gas and water loan, together with details of the same, and the probable result of such loan upon the water and town rates, .ond that the ratepayers may have an opportunity of ventilating a subject of' such, vital importance." The day has not" yet been fixed, but the meeting will" no' doubt take place without delay in compliance with the wishes of the large number of ratepayers whose signatures are appended tp the requisition. . Edith Palmerston. — This .highly popular artiste' will give entertainment this and to-morrow evenings at. the Assembly Room, for which occasions the programme' is varied and attractive. A northern contemporary, thus writes of her: — "Edith Palraerston's powers of mimicry are exquisite. No point is ever 'lost, no touch.: of humor or pathos is omitted,, at the same, time nothing is., overstrained-, She beVid.es possesses the rare talent of a good voice' to which the irici•dental songs give ample scope.''- Those'of our readers who wish to spend a pleasant evening we" "would recommend to attend at' the AssenSt-ily Room to-night.
