CORRESPONDENCE.

THE CATUPULT NUISANCE. To the Editor of the Nelson Eevning Mail. SiR->-The season has come round agaiu when almost every boy in the street is armed with a catapult, as I . have discovered by the number of lamps which are broken- jn every purt of the Town, almost daily. It is no little expense to •me, and a great deal of trouble, aud how parents can allow their boys to have them, when their only use is to do mischief, I am at a loss to know. I think every boy who is seen with one ought to be brought before the Court and be adjudged guilty of a misdeameaDor, and be punished accordingly. The storekeepers who Bell them for the sake of gainiug a penny are despicable creatures who ought to be made responsible for all the damage done by them in the form of broken windows, broken lamps, &c, &c. I should really think that tbe Resident Magistrate, or the Inspector of Police, or some other public officer, (for there are plenty of them of one sort or another) would have power to deal effectually with such foolish, childish, and dangerous toy as this horrid catapult, and call them in, or cry them down by some means, if not, then let tbe Superintendent, while the Council is in session, bring in a Bill to meet this paltry, but expensive evil. , If the "powers that be" were as much annoyed and put to as much needless expense and trouble as I am, they 'vould find out some way of putting p check upon it. * Lamp- smashers beware, If y< u're caught I declare You'll get what you richly deserve. Lamplighter.
