NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.
Present :— Mr. Haddow, Mr. D. Burns, and Mr. Webb, chairman. < The Surveyor produced, a.b'st of absentee owners 'of land in" the town! The discussion on the question of obtaining : the rates due by -them was- postponed. A letter was received 'from Messrs. * Webley & Co., stating that the Provincial Government was wiiling to bear on'e-thinl of the. cost, of the proposed culvert in Bridge-street, and that they would undertake to pay one-third if the' Board would construct "it. Referred to Public Works' Committee. , , Ordered, that the upper portion of Vanguard-street be gravelled. The Surveyor was ordered to advertise for the painting of the lamps and .posts. Tlie Surveyor -was instructed to have a portion of Ngatitawn-slreet repaired and gravelled. *' . Mr. Lock's tender for gravelling Hamp-den-street at 19s. per chain was accepted. The Board then adjourned until Friday the 19th inst.
