The second washing up was to take place on Saturday last and the results are expected to be more favorable from the fact that better stone is being put through the battery. . Perseverance Goldmining Company, £5 Shares, £2 10s. paid. No change,. Shares iuactive. The future of, this mine depends on the active operations which will soon be carried out, on a more extended scale. The contracts will be completed within the time, so that in June, we look for good results. Pioneer Shares, £8 paid. Some fair samples of stone from this neglected mine have been sent to England, aud, this it is hoped will be. the means of iuducing foreign capital to come to our aid. Lucky Hit Shakes, £10 paid. Masonic Shares, £12 10s. paid. ■ Mount Ophir' Shares, £9 paid. Commercial Shares, £21 155., .paid. ' Collingwood Coal Company Shares £125 paid. The news relative to this mine is ; cheering. ' The engineer to the Wellington gasworks states ; that the coal has proved superior to the Newcastle coal on a fair test. An order for 50 tons followed, so. that a considerable trade is ensured In this direction, provided we can ship it to Wellington at moderate charges. The mine is at work, good coal is being procured,:; and .a ready, sale is at hand. tbe Culliford Company was to take place on Saturday and as the stone now going through is of a better character more favorable news is expected from this district, such expectations being of course based on the good specimens that have been procured from the mine. Doran's will be at work shortly, and then the district will be fairly tried. The Decimal Cosipany continue hard at work and have struck some good leaders. The news with regard to our coal is cheering, and foreign orders will soon give activity to the Collingwood mine as well as to our shipping trade.
