CORRESPONDENCE.

*»* We are desirous of affording every reasonable facility for the discussion of public subjects; but it r must be understood that we are in.no way responsible . "for the opinions expressed by correspondents. To the Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir — In your issue of the Bth inst. I see a' letter signed James Grotfe, in which he informs the public that! he had a forced idle day on which he attended the place of" meeting' of the iMotueka ' iValley/ Rbad Board. jDr. -Watts tells us ,thatsatan finds some "mischief still for idle hands to do, and, I ihinlt thai his Satanic Majesty

must have " interviewed " Mr James Grove that morning, and filled bis idle hands with sufficient mischief to last him for a week, .for I find him writing a8 follows; — "The Board decided by a majority not to admit reporters. " Now, this was not the fact, for it was uot to having their proceedings reported that they objected, but to their being made public through the medium of Mr. James Grove. ; I must, therefore, ask you to insert these few lines in order to remove the false impression that Mr. Grove's letter was calculated to create, namely, that the Board were unwilling that the public should be informed of the manner in which they proposed to ex pend the money placed at their disposal by the Government. I ara inclined to think that this is not the first time that Mr. Qrove has rushed into print on the subject of this Road Board. Let me advise him to be a little more careful for the future. I am, &c, John George Knyvett.
