MINING INTELLIGENCE.
mr. ii. j. l. augarde's weekly report. Culliford Gold-mining Company £10 Shares, £3 10s. paid. No alteration in these shares. The crushing is continuing, and 27 tons of quartz seems to be the average amount put through per week, which is good work for a four stamper battery. The washing up will take place shortly, in the meantime, there is every reason to believe that the mine is working satisfactorily. Perseverance Goldmining- Company, £5 Shares, £2 103. paid. Nothing particular to report. The works are progressing rapidly. It is earnestly hoped, and fully expected, that the works when completed will fully compensate the shareholders for their patience. The call of 10s. clue this day, making £2 10s. paid, is being responded to readily. Lucky Hit Shares, £10 paid. Masonic Shares, £12 10s. paid. Mount Ophir Shares, £9 paid. Commercial Shares, £21 15s. paid. Pioneer Shares, £8 paid. No action taken in these mines at present. Collingwood Coal Company Shares, £120 shares. A call of £5 per share has been made, making £125 paid. Two experienced coal-miners have been sent for, and we may now hope that this mine will take up its proper position. The coal is evidently there, as is proved by the good samples now coming over, all of which meet with ready sale. Sutherland Goldmining Company, £1 Shares, £1 paid. Everything progressing favorably. Dor an' s Gold Mining Company, £5 Shares, £2 10s. paid. Nothing of importance to record. The necessary works are progressing favorably. Waimea South Quartz Crushing Company, £1 Shares, £1 15s. paid. Nothing new until the meeting of the shareholders ou the 14th inst., for the purpose of extending the capital by £800. Our share market continues inactive, but until we get one good mine at work and yielding a fair return, we cannot expect much business. The Culliford Company is working well, 27 tons of quartz per week are put through the battery, a four stamper, showing that not much time is being wasted. This mine is placed in the same position as was the Perseverance, namely, that there is a lot of stuff which must go through whether payable or not, consequently time is required to arrive at a fair average of yield. The yield of gold from Collingwood continues good, as also from the Upper Buller, whence there comes a cry for good roads to facilitate traffic, and to allow justice to be done to this known auriferous country.
