MINING INTELLIGENCE.
o mr. h. j. l. augarde' s weekly report. > Culliford Gold-mixing- Company. £10 Shares, £3 10s. paid. No transactions of any moment this week, although the fact of the battery being afc work at last, after so much delay, causes a slight iuquiry for shares. Should the news, after the first washing up, approach to oue half of what is anticipated, we may look for an upward tendency in these shares ere long. Perseverance Goldmining Company, £5 Shares, £2 paid. No business in these shares, although the active exertions now being made, with regard to the extension of tho water-race, and the recent discovery of other minerals on the Company's property, cause some to view them more favorably. As minerals of an undefined character are being produced, would it not be as well for some one to go over and report ou the new discovery, so as to Jet the shareholders form some opinion on the matter ? The call of 10s. is due on the 10th April, thus making £2 10s. paid. Pioneer Shares, £8 paid. It is^i long time since anything has been done o\L heard of this Company. As a deal olf money is now lying dead in the specula* tioD, the shareholders are becoming anxious. If the scheme is to be abandoned, then, the sooner a meeting takes place the better, to break up the Company or sell the lease. It seems a pity that a Company with such an acknowledged good show as this really had, should lie so long. Lucky Hit Shares, £10 paid. Masonic Shares, £12 10=. paid. Mount Opiiir Shares, £9 paid. Commercial Shares, £21 15s. paid. Nothing doing. The latter Company had a meeting on Friday, when it was resolved to maintain the lease. — Future operations are as yet undecided. Collingwood Coal Company Shares, £140 paid, £20 per share added. Nothing of importance except obtaining better coal. Sutherland Goldmining Company, £1 Shares, 10s. paid, and 10s call due. The machinery is all on the ground, and will soon be at work. A little more money is wanted, which will be provided for by an overdraft at the Bank. All parties connected with the mine are in good spirits. Doran's Gold Mining Company, £5 Shares, £2 10s. paid. No news of importance. The machinery is well on its road, andwe may daily expect news of its safe arrival. Waimea Sorrrn Quartz Crushing Company, £1 Shares, 15s. paid. A few shares are on the market. A general meeting is called for the 14th Aprii, for the purpose of extending the capital to the extent of £800. Beyond this, by the issue of new shares, there is nothing doing. The general want of money necessarily makes shares heavy on hand. Tho pressure put on by the Culliford Company in order to get the calls in so that directors can pay their way, counteracts any tendency to arise. In consequence of the fact that crushing has really commenced, shareholders are naturally anxious to learn the results. Dorans' will be the next that will be at work, and everything is tending towards a speedy development of this mine. The direction is active and pushing. The reefs of the Inangahua are looking most promising, aud the prospects from the Wairau are good. As soon as the Wangapeka miner? as well as Collingwood, both gold and coal, added to the Wairau, are at work, capital will assuredly flow in, and the prospects of Nelson, hitherto so gloomy, must then certainly brighten.
