POST-OFFICE NOTICES.

MAILS CLOSE. For Picton and Blenheim — per Lyttelton, this day, at 4.80 p.m. For the United Kingdom, via Suez and Brindisi (only specially addressed letters), and for the Axistralian Colonies, and for India, China. Japan, Cape of Good Hope, Continent of Europe, &c. per s.s. Tanmaki. about 4th April, to be transhipped at Dunedin into s.s. Tararua. Note. — The next Home Mail, via Fan Francisco, will close at Nelson, on Tuesday, the 4th April. For Wakapuaka — Close every Wednesday and Saturday, at 2.30 p.m.; arrive every Wednesday and Saturday, at 11 a.m. For Tadmor and Wangapclca — Close every Tuesday and Friday, at 2.30 p.m., and arrive eyery Tuesday and Friday, at 11 a.m. Note. — Inconsequence of the Australian Mails being now conveyed by Britic-h Packets between Brindisi and Alexandria, a reduction in Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi has been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for the United Kingdom' via Brindisi, will therefore be as follows : — Letters. — Not exceeding \ ounce, 9d. ; exceeding £ ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce, Is. 6d. ; and so on, 9d for every additional \ ounce or fraction of -i ounce. Newspapers under 4 ounces, each 4d.; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d. Book and Pattern Parcels. — Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d. ; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d. ; exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d. ; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. ?d.; and so on, Is 2d for every additional 8 ounces or fraction of 8 ounces.
