RESIDENT MAGISTRATES COURT.
Before J. Sharp, Esq., 11. M , This Day. Joseph Shaw was charged with being drunk and incapable on Saturday evening. This being the third ofleuce within two months, prisoner was fined £i and costs. James Stringer was charged with having several bags of oysters in his possession contrary to the provisions of the Act. Police-Sergeant Nash stated that ou Saturday morniug he met Stringer near Mr. Davis' bonded store with a bag in his hand. He asked what he had got there, and he said, oysters. The bag had two holes ia it. through whi :h he could see oysters. He took hold of the hag and went do An with Stringer to the end of the store where his boat was lying with a boy in it. When they arrived at the water's edge, Siringer dragged him into the water, took the hag from him, and threw it into the boar, ai»d jumped in after it, and when he (Kash) laid hold of the gunwale of the boat, he shoved him off, and rowed down the harbor. Nash then walked down the road, and headed him, and shortly after saw him throw the bags overboard. Prisoner landed a little time after, nud he arrested him ,at a public house on ' the Beach. The bags were afterwards recovered, ami he recognised one of them as being the one he had had in his possession. At the time he spoke to Stringer first, he was in plain clothes. Constable Dixon said he was sent for by Nash, and ou going down., die, B-ach in ; a cab he saw defendant, who was then in a boat, throw something overboard. He remained there on duty and on the

Thomas Wilkins and Dennis Hurley were charged hy the Inspector ol Nuisances with onty tying nightsoil in ITnrdy-airect. Olr^uco" udinitted. Fined £2 each and costs.
