NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.
Friday, Makci-i 24. Present : All the members. The Surveyor was instructed to gravel the foot-path in Kawai and Hamprien Streets, from Franklin-street to the Wairaea-road. It was decided that no more work should be done for the present in Alfredstreet. The Surveyor waß instructed to improve the entrauce to Captain Wheeler's property as soon as the prison labor could be obtained. It was resolved that the culvert at the foot of Russell-street should be extended for 107 feet, in order to take it across the Haven-road. Permission was granted to George Adam to make a drain across the Havenroad.
The Surveyor was instructed to cause a drain to be carrier! across the s:ur>e roail, uear Mr. Barnes' properly. A letter was received from Mr. D. Macintosh relative to the improvement of Totara-street, and the work was ordered to be done. An advance of £60 was granted to Blecher ami Grant, the contractors for the works in Washington-valley. A letter was received from the Waimearoad Board stating that they would be »lad to receive, aud consider, any definite propositions from the Board of Works relative to the road over the Waimea hills. A letter was received from the Superintendent's Office statiug that £350, the balance of the vote of wi9v Provincial Council, had been paid to The ciedit of the Board. Sundry accounts were then passed and the Board adjourned.
