POST-OFFICE NOTICES.

MAILS CLOSE. For the United Kingdom, via Suez and Brindisi (only specially addressed letters), and for the Australian Colonies, and for India, China. Japan, Cape of Good Hope, Continent of Europe, &c. per s.s. Alhambra, on Monday, 13th inst., at 11 a.m. Tor Wellington, Napier, Auckland, and lor the Southern Ports of New Zealand —per ss. Alhambra, on Monday, 13th inst., at 12 noon. For Picton, Wellington, Napier, and Southern Ports of New Zealand — per s.s. Phoebe, on arrival.

For Stoke, Richmond, Hope, Spring Grove, Wakefield, and Foxhill— Close at Chief Post Office daily at 2.30, p.m.; arrive at Chief Post Office daily, at 11 o'clock, a.m. For Wakapuaka —Close every Wednesday and Saturday, at 2.30 p.m.; arrive every Wednesday and Saturday, at 11 a.m. Note. —ln cousequenceof the Australian Mails heiug now conveyed by British Packets between Brindisi and Alexandria, a reduction in Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi has been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will therefore be as follows : — Letters. —Not exceeding \ ounce, 9&.; exceeding £ ounce and not exceeding I ounce, Is. fid.; and so on, 9d for every additional 5 ounce or fraction of £ ounce. . Newspapers under 4 oun^|s\ each 4d.; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d. Book and Pattern Parcels. —Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d.; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d.; exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d.; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. ?d.; and so on, Is 2d for every additional 8 ounces or fraction, of 8 ounces.
