POST-OFFICE NOTICES.

MAILS CLOSE. For Motueka, "Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika —per p.s. Charles Edward, this day, at 4.30 p.m. For Wanganui and Wellington —per Wallabi, to-morrow, at 4.30 p.m. Note. —The next mail for Australia, India, and Europe, via Suez, -will be despatched from Nelson by any steamer which will meet the Tararua, which leaves Wellington on Thursday next. A Supplementary Mail will be despatched by the Alhainbra, expected to leave Nelson aboute'Saturday, Ilth instant. „^

Note. —ln consequence of the Australian Mails being now conveyed by British Packets between Brindiei and Alexandria,\a deduction in Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi ha 3 been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will therefore be as follows : — Letters. —Not exceeding \ ounce, 9d.; exceeding -J ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce, Is. 6d.; and so on, 9d for every additional \ ounce or fraction of & ounce. c ** Newspapers under 4 ounces, each 4d.; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d.Book and Pattern Parcels. —Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d.; exceeding.,! ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d.; exceeding '2 ounces qgd not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d.,>/ exceeding 4\'ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. ?d.; and so on, Is 2d for every additional 8 ounces or fraction of 8 ounces.
