MAILS CLOSE. For Marlborough — per p.s. Lyttelton, to-morrow, Friday, 3rd mst., at 4.30 p.m. Note. — The next Home Mail, via San Francisco,. will close at Nelson, on Saturday, the 4th March. ( For Stoke, Richmond, Hope, Spring: Grove, Wakefield, and Foxhill— Close at Chief Post Office daily at 2.30, p.m.; arrive at Chief Post Office daily, at 11 o'clock, a.m. For Appleby, Upper arid Lower Moutere, Nga Timote, Motueka, and Riwaka — Close every Monday and Thursday, at 8.30, a.m.; arrive every Tuesday and Friday, at 4 p.m. Also, for Motueka ppr steamer as opportunity offers. For Wakapuaka — Close every Wednesday and Saturday, at 2.30 p.m.; arrive every Wednesday and Saturday, at 11 a.m. For Tadmor and Wangapeka — Close every Tuesday and Friday, at 2.30 p.m., and arrive every Tuesday and Friday, at 11 a.m. Note. — In consequence of the Australian Mails being now conveyed by British Packets between Brindisi and Alexandria, a reduction in Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi haa been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will therefore be as follows : — Letters. — Not exceeding ounce, 9d. ; exceeding i ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce, Is. 6d. •, and so on, 9d for every additional £ ounce or fraction of 4 ounce. Newspapers under 4 ounces, each 4d.; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d. Book and Pattern Parcels. — Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d. ; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d. ; exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d. ; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is.
