POST-OFFICE NOTICES.

MAILS CLOSE. For Motueka and Golden Bay — jer p.p. Lady Barkly, to-morrow, at 2 p.m. For Pieton, Wellington, and Southern Ports, per Phoebe or Airedale, immediately on arrival. For Auckland — per schooner Waihopai, tomorrow, nt 11 a.m. Only specially addressed letters -will be sent to Auckland by this opportunity. For Stoke, Richmond, Hope, Spring Grove, Wafcefield, and Foxhiil— Close at Chief Post Office daily at 2.80, p.m.; arrive at Chief Post Office daily, at li o'clock, a.m. For Appleby, Upper and Lower Moutere, Nga Tirr.ote, Motueka, and Kiwnka — Close every Monday and Thursday, at 8.30, a.m.; arrive every Tuesday and Friday, at 4 p.m. Also, for Motueka per steamer as opportunity offers, Note. — In consequence of the Australian Mails being now conveyed by Hritis-h Packets between Brindisi and Alexandria, a reduction in Postage on Letters sent via Brindisi has- been effected. The rates of Postage to be charged in New Zealand on Correspondence for ihe Uisittd Kingdom, via Brindiai, will therefore be as follows :-— Letters. — Not exceeding £ ounce, 9d. ; exceeding: £ ounce aid not exceeding 1 ounce, Is. 6d. ; and so on, 9.1 for every additional £ ounce or fraction ot h ounce. Newspapers uudor 4 ounces, each 4d. ; for every additional 4 ounces, 4d. Book and Pattern Parcels. — Not exceedinir 1 ounce, 2d. ; exceeding I ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d. ; exceeding "2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d. ; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. ?d.; and so on, Is 2d for every additional 8 ounces or fraction of 8 ounces.
