NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

Friday, February 10. Present : All the members. The Surveyor stated that his plan of the improvements to be effected in Russellstreet was iv course of preparation and would shortly be ready. A letter was received from Mr. John Lock, askiug the Board to form a drain in front of hi» premises. Application refused. Some discussion then ensued on the subject of Mr. Rout's letter, when Mr. Webb proposed the following resolution: — "That the Board thanks Mr. Rout for his letter of the 27th January, opening the subject of better communication with the Waimea, and takes this opportunity of suggesting to the Waimea Road Board the desirability of appropriating the proceeds of the to!l-gj^>e to the purpose of defraying thej" cost of levelling the hills from,jsay, Greig's to the College Hill, takip-jsfa portion of said work each year."

Mr. Haddow proposed the following amendment, which was carried : — "That the consideration of Mr. Webb's proposition on Mr. Root's letter anent the making the road round the rocks be adjourned until next Board night." The Board then adjourned until BYiday, the 24th of February.
