Note. —The next Mail for India, China. Cape of Good Hope, the United Kingdom, the Continent of Europe, via Suez and Brind'si, wil[ close at Nelson, per s.s. Alhambru, expected about the 10th inst. For Stoke, Richmond, Hope, Spring Grove, Wakefield, and Foxhill—Close at Chief Post Office daily at 2.30, p.m.; arrive at Chief Post Office daily, at 11 o'clock, a.m. For Wakapuaka —Close every Wednesday and Saturday, at 2.30; p.m.; arrive every Wednesday and Saturday, at 11 a.m. For Tadmor and Wangapeka — Close every Tuesday and Friday, at 2.30 p.m., and arrive every Tuesday and Friday, at 11 a.m. Note. —ln consequence of the increasing difficulties which attend the transmission through France of overland mails, addressed via Marsailles, the Postmaster-General of London has determined on sending mails so addressed, until further notice, waJ3riudisi, Brenner, Prussia, and Belgium. The rates of postage to be charged in New Zealand on correspondence for the United Kingdom, via Marseilles and Brindisi, will, therefore, be as follows : — Rates via Mahseilles and Erindisi. Letters. —Not exceeding £ ounce, Is. 3d, ; exceeding i ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce, 2s. 6d.; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 1$ ounce, 39. 9d ; and so on Is. 3d. for each i ounce or fraction of 4 ounce. Book and Pattern Parcels. —Not exceeding 1 ounce, 2d. ; exceeding 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces, 4d.; exceeding 2 ounces and not exceeding 4 ounces, 7d. ; exceeding 4 ounces and not exceeding 8 ounces, Is. 2d.
