Such being the case, your interests and mine are identical, and my object in seeking* to represent you is to have a voieeip*the regulation of those matters which mas^frauce to our common benefit, especially as l^gards the keeping down of taxation and Customs duties, as well as of expenditure in all Government departments and undertakings, at the same time, however, doing everything in rny power to-further the substantial progress of the colony; together with the practical development of itsdndustrial resources. Having no desire or intension to look for place, I shall have nothing to interfere with the independent action which, in the event of my election, I propose to take on all political matters affecting our own particular locality or the colony at large.
