Such being the case, your interests and mine are identical, and my object in seeking to represent you is to have a voice in the regulation of those matters which mav conduce to our common benefit, especially as regards the keeping down of taxation and Customs duties, as well as of expenditure in all Government departments and undertakings, at the same time, however, doing everything in my power to further the substantial progress of the colony, together with the practical development of its industrial resources.
