An advertisement for a wife which appeared last month in the Tuapeka Times, received a reply in which tbe fair writer stated her qualifications -for the duties of a wife, and offered, if desired, to exchange cartes de visite with gentleman seeking a partner :•—" My age is 25J years; my qualifications as a wife to "such a party as you advertise are these:—-I can milk a cow or a dozen of them ; feed pigs; plant or dig potatoes*| fence; work a sewing or reaping machine ; turn a mangle ; wash dishes; make artrudding ; get up shirts ; play the pia'tfcaaaiAarp ; teach the rudiments of Frenchpf_LatiD, Greek, German, Sanscrit ; take my whisky hot at proper intervals; nnd wield a three-legge^l stool when proyfbked to do so."
