Gentlemen — I cannot But feel much flattered by seeing so numerously-fgned a, requisition to represent you in the next Parliament. I value it all the more that I observe in it the names of many whom I haye knowi for many years, and who were associated wiih myself in the early work of making a cultiiated country out of a wilderness. I Some months since I hai, from various reasons, abandoned all intention of entering the House of Representatives again. |am assured by your kind requisition, thatfyoil consider that I may still do you service. I wil take an early opportunity of inviting you to listen to my views upon public matters ; and if you should be of the same opinion when the day of el ction arrives, I shall be ih the fortunate positio i of representing the ** district in which I first se tied some eight-and-twenty years since; and in the happiness of ■which, as of tbe whole cole iy, I can never cease to feel the greatest interest I have the h mor to be, Gentlei len, Your obedftnt seivant, 14 I D.
