WESTPORT RACES.
o 1 These races took place last week, and on the^wbole appear to haVe passed off most successfully, although |we regret to find that two or three accidents, whicfi *' resulted ia broken limbs, occurred during :the two days' meeting. One or these happened to the rider of Supple Jack, :who, after a heavy fall in the Hurdle Race, and then running Gamester very close, came in contact with the post opposite the'sij Judge's cliair. The horse was uninjured, bat Campbell, the rider, was unseated and his left thigh broken. The following are the events in which the Nelson horses took part :— - Maiden Plate of 10 soys, added to a sweepstake of 2 soys each, second horse ,to save his stake. One mile and a distance.
