To the Gentlemen signing the above requisition and to the Electors of the Suburbs of Nelson Gentlemen— l thank you for your flattering requisition, and beg to offer myself as a Candidate for the honor of representing you in t the General Assembly. Most of you are aware that my father and myself have been possessed of property in your district, . as well as in other parts of the province, for many years, and that I myself have been long resident amongst you. Such being the case, your interests • and mine are identical, and my object in seeking to represent you is to have a voice in the regulation of those matters which ma^ conduce to our common benefit, especially as regards the keeping down of taxation and Customs duties, as well as of expenditure in all Government departments and undertakings, at the same time, however, doing everything in my power to further tbe substantial progress of the colony, together with the practical development of its industrial resources. Having no desire or intention to look for place, I shall have nothing to interfere with the independent action which, in the event of my election, I propose to take on all political matters affecting our own particular locality ot the colony at large. I shall take an early opportunity of meeting you all in person, and explaining my views, and answering any questions you may choose to put to me on the political suhjr-ets which may affect us either locally or generally. I remain, Gentlemen, Your most obedient servant, RALPH KICHARDSON. Nelson, November 15, 1870. RED TTOUSE, RED HOUSE, RED JJL HOUSE,. Bridge-street !
