Most of you are aware that my father and myself have heen possessed of property in your district, as well as in other parts of the province, for many years, and that I myself have been long resident amongst you. Sneh heinsr the case, your interests and mine are identical, and my object in seeking to represent you i** to bave a voice in the regulation of those matters which ma* conduce to our common ben< fit, especially as regards the keeping down of tHxation and Customs duties, as well as of expe» diture in ■■ 11 Government departments and undertaking.*., at the same time, however, doing •everything in my power to further the substantial rrojzress of tbe colony, together with the practical di -vi loi ment of its industrial resources.
