Gentlemen — I thank you for your flattering requisition, and beg to offer myself as a Candidate l'or the honor of representing you in the General Assembly. Most of you are aware that my father and myself have been possessed of property in your district, as well as in other part* of the province, for many years, aud that I myself have been long resident amongst you. Such being the case, your interests and mine are identical, and my object in seeking to represent you is to have a voice in the regulation of those matters which ma* conduce to our common bem fit, espec'ally as regards the keeping a'own of taxation and Customs duties, as well as of expenditure in all Government departments and undertakings, at the same time, however, doing everything in my power to further the substantial progress of the colony, together with the practical development of its industrial resources. Having no desire or intention to look for place, I shull have nothing to interfere with the independent action which, in the event "f my election, I propose to take on all political matters affecting our own particular locality or the colony at large. I shall take an early opportunity of meeting you all in person, and explaining my views, and answering any questions you may choose to put to me on the political subjects which may affect us either locally or generally.
