Gentlemen — I thank you for your flattering requisition, and besi to offer myself as a Candidate for the honor of representing you in the General Assembly. Most of ymi are aware that ray father and myself have been possessed of property in your district, as well as in other parts of the province, for many years, ftnd that I myself have been long resident among r -t you. Such being the case, your interests rinU mine are identical, and my object in necking to represent you is to have a voice in the regulation of those matters which ma' conduce to our common bent fit, especially as regards the keeping nown of taxation and Customs dutie.*, as well as of expenditure in nil Government departments and undertakings, at the same time, however, doing everything in my power to further the substantial progress of the colony, together with the practical development of its industrial resources. Having no desire or intention to look for place, I shall have nothing to interfere with the independent action which, in the event of my election, I rropose to bike on all political matters affecting our own particular locality or the colony at large.
