ALFRED GREENFIELD, 2180 Provincial Secretary. milE COMPETITION for RIFLE PRIZES JL to be Given by the PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT of NELSON, for the Year 1870, will commence on TUESDAY, the Iwcntyninth day of November, instant. On this occasion TEN DOUBLE-ACTION CENTRAL FIRE BREECH LOADING RE> VOLVERS will be Given to be competed for by the undermentioned Volunteers, viz : — No. 1 City Rifles 2 Revolvers Waimea. Rifles 2 „ Nelson Artillery 2 „ Wakapuaka Artillery ... 2 „ Cadets 2 „ The first four Companies will fire at ranges of 300, 400, and 500 yards; five shots at each range; target, Cft. by 6ft. The Cadets will fire at ranges of 100, 150, and 200 yards; targets, 6ft by 4ft. Any position, without artificial rest. The Rules and Regulations adopted for the last General Government prize competition in other respects to be strictly adhered to. No prize will be given to any person who does not score thirty points. No person will be allowed to compete for these prizes, whose name is not now on the present roll. No person will be entitled to one of these prizes who has already won a Provincial Government Prize Revolver. The Firing for the Revolvers will take place on the respective Practice Grounds of each Company, commencing at Nine o'clock a.m. ONE of HENRY'S REPEATING RIFLES will be Given a^ a CHAMPION PRIZE, and may be Shot for by THREE from EACH COMPANY who Score the highest number of points when competing for the Prize Revolvers, and by the Winners of previous Prizes Given by the Provincial Government, whose naa es are on the present roll. The FIRING for the CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on the CITY SHOOTING GROUND, on THURSDAY, the 15th day of December, under the superintendence of the Adjutant. Ranges, 300, 400, and 500 yards: target, 6ft. by 6ft. All differences as to points will be decided by the Commanding Officers, who will superintend the firing of their respective companies. Ammunition for practice can be obtained from the Arijutant, at such times and [places as that officer shall appoint. ALFRED GREENFIELD, 2 106 Provincial Secretary. NOTICE. SUBURBAN NORTH. OWNERS or OCCUPIERS of LANDS or TENEMENTS in the above District are hereby required to make a RETURN of the Quantity and Nature of all the LANDS or TENEMENTS owned or occupied by them, together with the ESTIMATED VALUE of the same to Sell, in accordance with the 10th clause of the " Country Roads Amendment Act, 1858." Such Returns to be made in writing, addressed to the Chairman of the Board, on or before SATURDAY, the 10th day of December next.
