The Nelson Evening Mail. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1870.
■ I Messrs. Rod and Hounsell quote fine silk-dressed flour at £14 per ton. Mk. Geor je Cotterell, who has been performing in Auckland, sailed for Sydney in the City of Melbourne oa Monday evening last. Arrival of Sir George Grey. — Sir George Grey, accompanied by his niece, Miss Matthews, arrived in Auckland by the City of Melbourne on Monday afternoon, and was warmly greeted by many of his old friends. He left for his estate at Kawau the same evening. Amateur Minstrels. — A capital performance was given last night by the Nelson Amateur Minstrels, assisted by Mr. W. H. Bent. The selection of songs was excellent, and some of them were really •well sung, the choruses too were given ■with much spirit, but the want of a little more practice could be detected, as occasionally they were not given well together. However we are not at at all disposed to be too critical with regard to the performance of a body of amateurs in their first appearance iv public. Mr. Bent's conjuring tricks afforded infinite amusement, as did the singing and acting of some of the members of the Company, and on the whole we have to thank the Nelson Amateurs for a most enjoyable evening's entertainment.
