She is the guide, adviser, maternal friend of all the young ones, and though no child on earth will ever call her mother, in the spiritland children will arise and call her blessed: Think of the maiden aunts that are unrequited among one or two generations of nieces and nephews, whose work is never known till they are gone. Thiuk of all tbe public good they have wrought. Who founded the first savingsbank ?— Priscilla Wakefield. Who in all America has begged the most money for lunatic asylums ? — Miss Dix. Who has done most to establish lifeboats on dangerous coasts — Miss Gurney, and Miss Burdett Coutts, whose charity is sublime. Who has brought nursing to a science, and lost her health sitting at the bedside of the sick and wounded ? — Miss Florence Nightingale. Everybody can add to this list.
