r September 10, steamer Tararua, 524, Hagley. from Melbourne. Passengers— saloon : Messrs. Levi, Johnson, and Mrs Jameson : steerage — Mr Malone, Mr Jones. — steamer Kennedy, 125, Whitwell, from West Coast. Passengers — Messrs Drew, Jauson, Horton, Pickard, Hunter, — ketch George M'Donald, 12, Clarkson, from Havelock.
Tke Anchor Line Cos. s.s. Kennedy, Captain Whitwell, arrived on Saturday evening at 5.45. She left Nelson on Monday night at 7 p.m., experienced strong N.W. breeze in the Bay, rounded the Spit at midnight with a fresh S.E. wind, arrived off Westport at 2 p.m., crossing the bar at 6 o'clock. Left at 8 p.m. on Wednesday for Hokitika, (towing out the schooner Pearl), crossed that bar at 8 o'clock next morning ; sailed again at 7 p.m. for Greymouth. arriving there at 9 o'clock ; left Greymouth at 11 a.m. on Friday, arrived in Westport at 8 p.m., sailed again at 10.30, and armed as above. The Cos. steamer Charles Edward arrived in Westport from Wanganui on Friday evening with a full cargo of stock. The Kennedy leaves for the usual West Coast ports to-morrow night at 10 o'clock.
