The Nelson Evening Mail. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1870.

Mining Shakes. — Mr H. J. L. Augarde qoutes Perseverance Shares, £2 paid, at par. Business done this day. Funeral Service. — The Rev . W. J. Watkin will improve the death of the late Mrs. Sigley, to-morrow evening, in the Wesleyan Church, Hardy-street. Service to commence at half-past six o'clock. Doran's Reef. — We call attention to the prospectus of the Doran's Reef Company which appears in our advertising columns. The stone from this reef hag been carefully tested on five different: occasions, on each of which the yield has proved to average over two ounces to the ton. With such prospects there can be little doubt that the company will be floated without delay. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell . — When we consider the exceedingly limited opportunities afforded us in Nelson of becoming acquainted with histrionic talent of a high order, the appearance of Mr. and Mrs Darrell on our stage cannot be viewed with feelings other than pleasurable by those who are admirers of the drama, and when we witness such acting as that displayed by Mrs. Darrell last night in the malediction scene from "Leah," we cannot but congratulate the Nelson public on their good fortune in being visited by an actress of such evident talent and ability. But while we bestow our well-merited encomiu ms on this lady, we must not omit to make fav cable mention of Mr. Darrell; who delighted his audience with the manner in which he fulfilled his role in the higher part of Rudolf, in "Delicate Ground," for it is difficult to imagine this cool, imperturbable, unimpassioned character being better represented than was the case last night. On most of the other portions of the entertainment we have already expressed an opinion, and shall now say no more than that we are glad to find that the reduced prices of admission advertised for to-night will place it within the reach of all to witness a performance, which of its kind, has seldom, if ever, been witnessed in Nelson.
