This fact speaks to a large increase on the original stock. Captain Cameron, the British Consul in Abyssinia, whose impi isonment by Theodore led to the expedition against that sovereign, died at Geneva, on the 30th May, after a long illness. When he returned to England in July, 1868, his health in fact was completely shattered by the sufferings he had endured during his confinement. He entered the army in 1846, as ensign in the 45th Regiment, served in the Kaffir war six years afterwards, aud was appointed to the staff of General Williams at Kars, during the Crimean war. In December, 1868, he was pensioned, and left the service.
