CORRESPONDENCE.
I A MODEL COMPANY. To the Editor of tub Nelson Evening Mail. Sir — Your contemporary the Colonist has published an abstract of the half-year's accounts of the Shotover Gold-mining Co., No. 1, as a guide aud pattern for other companies, and evidently having reference to Culliford's Company, but the writer does not tell the public that there ; are no paid-up shares iv that compauy, and that all the shareholders are oq an equal footing as regards profit and loss, or that the accouut printed is merely an abstract of the receipts and expenditure, without showing how much is debited or credited to capital account, or how much to profit and loss, and that it is therefore no guide to either directors or shareholders of companies in Nelson, as is therein implied. I am, &c, Jno. Percy.
