The objects of this Company are to take up protective licenses, with prospective leases, of supposed auriferous lands adjoining the River Maitai. and in the ranges on the Eastern side of Blind Bay, whereon to search for gold and other minerals, and to prove any discoveries thereot which may be made, with the view, if satisfactory, of establishing Companies for working same. The Company has already made advantageous arrangements for leases with several owners of iand in the districts referred to— containing a ehoice of 200 acre3 in the aggregate, out of an extent of country embracing 4,000 acres — on some of which promising quartz-reefs have lately been discovered, exhibiting traces of gold sufficient to warrant further exploration. The benefits which may be derived by parties j oining the Company are as follows : — They will be entitled to their respective share of any advantages — whether iu money or shares — that may be arranged for with any other Companies which may be established, to lease or purchase the interest of any mineral ground belonging to this Company. In addition to its other merits, this undertaking recommends itself to the public as a means, not only of further developing the mineral resources ot the province, but of indirectly benefiting the City of Nelson by the expenditure, the Company's operations, if successful, would necessarily occasion. To enable the Company to carry out its views, it is proposed to! raise a capital of £500, in 500 shares of £1 each ; ss. to be paid on application, and the remainder in calls not exceeding ss. each, at intervals of not less than one month.
