We learn from the Greymouth Star that there is a considerable amount of speculation going on in the buying and selling of land at Cobden on the supposition that the railway will shortly be commenced. The Star warns its readers as follows : — Little as the intrinsic value of land at Cobden is at this present time, it will be much less should the projected railway be practically carried out, For a railway from Nelson to Cobden would mean also a bridge across the Grey Eiver, over which the train would rush and pull up at Greymouth, merely allowing the condensed steam from its funnel to rest upon Cobden; nothing more; and therefore the less people speculate upon improbabilities, the ,less they are likely to be disappointed.
