EDUCATION RATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, Nelson, June 24th, 1870. PURSUANT to the provisions of " The Education Act, 1863," the SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householders residing within Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on TUESDAY, the 2nd day of August; and that the same will be received at the following places, between the hours of Ten a.m. and Four p.m , namely : — Court-house, Nelson, by Alfred Hibble ; School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban-North, by Alexander Wragg ; School-house, Stoke, by E. Cresswell ; Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William Steer ; School-house, Waimea West, by George Walker ; School-house, Spring Grove, by Charles Knapp; School-house, Upper Moutere, by H. Benseman; School-house, Lower Moutere, by W. Guy ; Institute, Motueka, by E. F. Burrell ; School-house, Pangatotara, by li. Brown ; School-house, Riwafca, by C. P. Pattie ; School-house, Motupipi, by J. Baird ; House of G. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor ; Police Station, Collingwood, by John Fisher ; Courthouse, Cobden, by S. G. The aforesaid Act requires that " every house* holder in each Educational District shall pay annually, twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this act ; nor for any cuild attending any school not established under this Act, iv respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate."
