English Mail. — As will be seen by the Post Ofiice notices published in another column, the San Francisco mail per Airedale will close oh Friday next, at 5 p.m. I Resident Magistrate's Court. — Sealy & Squires v Scarlett. This was a I case under the Resident Magistrate's Act 1868, in which the defendant was called upou to show cause why he had not satisfied a judgment obtained against him in January 1869 for £8 13s 6d. Mr. Pitt appeared for the plaintiffs. An order was made by the Magistrate committing the defendant to gaol for two months, in default of payment. The Post Office. — We understand that Mr. Kaye, who has long been known in Nelson as a most obliging aud efficient officer, is about to be removed to the General Post Office at Wellington, and whilst congratulating him on his well deserved promotion, we cannot but express our regret that his services are to be lost to Nelson. Mr. Kaye will be succeeded by Mr. Felix Wakefield, who is well known to the public as having been Secretary to Mr. Domett on the occasion of the Wangapeka enquiry.
