Wanganui, May 14. The Wonga Wonga arrived at Auckland without English mails. No summary to hand, the arrangements not being complete, the following items received : — Auckland, May 12. Wonga arrived on the 9th at 7.15 p.m. Arrived at Honolulu ou the 18th ult. 3997 miles in 17 days 4 hours. Passengers all well ; proceeded on per Idaho, on the 21st uit. Mr. Hall went to San Francisco to complete the arrangements. The Wonga Wonga left Honolulu on the 22nd. Passage, 382| hours. Passengers—rMiss Spencer and Mr. 0. E. Dean. Sailed for Sydney on the 11th. London, April 4. Estimates Navy, 9| millions. There is projected a lighter transatlantic cable. Charles Dickens has had an interview with the Queen, a peerage anticipated. The newspaper postal rate denounced. A Bill for enforcing law in Irelaud, has been passed, it provides for trial in some cases without a jury-suspension of Habeas Corpus— holds press responsible for inciting disturbances. It is reported that an additional £200,000 per annum is to be voted to the Prince of Wales, in consideration of the evidence in the Mordaunt case. It is rumoured that Bright intends resigning the Ministerial seat. Gladstone's Land Reform Bill unpopular. Chancellor for Ireland discouraged hopes of reducing the income tax. • The Brieish Indian Cable is completed. The Marquis of Bute visits New Zealand. • ; Paris, April 4. 1 .. The Postal Committee recommend a subsidy of 1,000,000 dollars per annum,
for the mail service between San Francisco and China. The American Consul imprisoned by Haytian insurgents. American and English fleets sent. The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce recommends a subsidy for the new route. The Bill to subsidise 2000-ton steamers to San Francisco has passed the Senate, and is now pending before the House. COMMERCIAL. Liverpool— Wheat 9s 2J to 9s 3d. San Francisco — Flour 5 dols. 25 to 55 cents; [■wheat 1 dol. 40 to 62 cents. I . AUCKLAND. A dinner was given to Mr. Yogel, by the Northern Club, on the 10th. Five rebels shot and one captured near Wakamona. The Lord Ashley with the English Mail leaves to-day. No English letters.
