AUCKLAND.
The following telegrams are from Saturday's Evening Post : — The general meeting of the Shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand was held on the 27th. instant. The dividend declared was 15 per cent per annum as before; The capital of the Bank is to be increased. Major Heaphy has resigned his seat itt the House of Representatives, and Reader Wood has accepted an invitation to stand for the district. An unsuccessful attempt has been made burn Mount Eden Gaol. A distillery is to be established in Auckland. Mining returns from Coromandel are very encouraging. The' missionary schooner Southern Cross has arrived with Bishop Patterson, who has been very ill.
