NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

0 Friday, March 24. Present: Messrs. D. Burns (chairman), R. Burn, and J. Percy, J. Webb. RUSSELL STREET. Mr. Wells' application to havo a road made to his pioperty in Russell-street was referred to the Public Works Committee. KERBING HARDY STREET. On the motion of Mr. Burn it was resolved that the Surveyor be instructed to prepare a specification and call for a tender for the above work. SEWERAGE IN HARDY STREET, ETC. The subject of the best means of obtaining the necessary powers to enable the Board to prosecute the work previously resolved on, was then discussed by the Board. Mr. Webb proposed that a memorial to the Superintendent be drawn up, asking him to introduce a Bill for that purpose into the Council. On the motion of Me. Burn, however, it was resolved thnt Mr. Percy be requested to assistthe Secretary in preparing the draft of Bill, to be laid before the Council during the next session. GRAVELLING. The Surveyor was instructed to call for tenders for gravelling in Frankiyn, Hampden, and St. Yincent Streets.

GORSE HEDGE FIRES. The Inspector brought this subject under the notice of (he Board, and, on the motion of Mr. Webb, it was resolved that a reward of £0 be offered for the conviction of incendiaries. BOULDERBANK GRAYEL. The Surveyor was instructed to obtain £40 or £50 worth of Boulderbank gravel before the winter season sets iD. DRAIN IN HALIFAX-STREET. The matter of cutting a drain in Halifax-street was referred to the Public Works Committee. Sundry accounts were then passed, nnd the Board separated.
