o We are indebted to Messrs. N. Edwards and Co., owners of tbe steamer Charles Edward, for the following copy of a telegram received this morning from the j purser of the vessel : — Hokitika, March 16, 9.20 a.m. Charles Edward struck a snag in river, Martin's Bay, February 28. Knocked hole iu bow. Run upon bank in middle of stream and filled. Cargo saved but damaged. Vessel lies in five feet water aft, and ten forward at low tide, with great list to port. Captain, I, and others left iu whaleboat for Hokitika. Picked up off this bar, five days out, by Ken uedy. Return by her to Martin's Bay this morning for passengers and cargo.
