MAILS CLOSE. Eor Picton, Wellington, Napier, and Southern Provinces, per s.s. Airedale, to-morrow, Thursday, the 17th instant, at 8 a.m. Eor the United Kingdom, the West Indies, the Continents of America, and Europe, &c, via Sau Francisco. — Per contract steamer, on Wednesday, 30th instant. The first home mail via San Erancisco is notified to close at Nelson on the 30th inst. In future all correspondence for the United Kingdom, &c, will be forwarded via San Francisco, unless specially endorsed via Suez. The rates oif postage on correspondence for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will be similar to those charged via Suez and Southampton, viz : — 6d per half-ounce letter; newspapers, ld each.
