PUBLIC MEETING AT WESTPORT.
The following resolutions were unani* mously passed at a public meeting, held on Saturday lash, "for the purpose of considering the advisability of petitioning the Superintendent to give effect to the motion passed by the Provincial Council on the 25th May, 1869, viz., that his Honor should appoint a member of the Provincial Executive for the West Coast":— That a memorial be presented to hia Honor the Superintendent, respectfully requesting that the motion passed in the Provincial Council on the 25th day of May } 1869, be carried into effect, viz., that his Honor should appoint a member of the Provincial Executive for the West Coast. That an opportunity now presents itself, by the return of Mr. Kynnersley to this province, to appoint a gentleman who has the entire confidence of the inhabitants of the Nelson South-west Goldfields, and tb.it his Honor the Superintendent be respectfully requested to carry into efiect the wishes of the Provincial Council as expressed in the motion referred to in the first resolution, by ap* pointing Mr. Kynnersley as our repre* sentative in the Provincial Executive. That a Committee consisting of Messrs. O'Conor, Munro, Franklyn> Falla, and. the mover be appointed to draw up a memorial in accordance with the resolutions passed, to obtain signatures thereto, and to forward the same to his Honor the Superintendent.
