Me. Henry Anderson, who was for some time the editor of the Wellington Independent, is, it is reported, about to resume the editorial chair, in connection •with the Wanganui Times, which is to be resuscitated as a daily paper, and placed tinder his management. A tangi was recently held at Kaitawa over the remains of a young native chief Who had died there, the son of the great ohief Aperahama Te Reiroa. There was says the Thames Advertiser, a very large assembly of natives, as well as a rather considerable number of the Europeans ,present. The most extensive preparations "ibad been made for the reception of the anticipated number of visitors. Two oxen and eight very large pigs had been killed aqd were roasted whole; and, in? addition to those, the following cuisine was also prepared by the tribe for the entertainment of their Maori and pakeha guests, viz., two tons of potatoes, one ton of biscuits, about one ton of dried eels, and no less than 30 ten-gallon kegs, making of course, 300 *gallocß of rum.
