LATEST NATIVE INTELLIGENCE.
u The following telegram was received by the Colonist this afternoon : — Napier, Tuesday, Noon. Intelligence lias arrived from Mr. M'Lean, dated Tauranga, 11th instant, fully confirming the Dews previously received. Te Kooti lost 16 killed, including Baker, the halfcaste, who has been a source of considerable mischief. "We had only three ■wounded. The combined forces are in full pursuit •after Te Koott into the Uriwera country. Topia, and Kemp, and the Wanganuis behaved splendidly. The united force is 900 strong ; Te Sooti's probably not 200, and all the •worst savages are with him, such as Kereopa, who is said to be wounded. Mr. M'Lean is very sanguine that the escape of Te Kooti is next to impossible. A few days will probably settle the question. The retreat of Te Kooti out of the country uuder the King's influence, is a :great point gained.
