■Messrs. N. Edwards & Co.'a steamer Charles Edward arrived in port yesterday at 4 a.m. Opt. Holmes reports leaving here on Saturday the 22nd inst, at 8 p.m.. and reaching the French Pass at midnight. Sighted the Flying Squadron under full sail next morning, off Kaikouras. Experienced light southerly winds, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 10 p.m. on Monday, going up to Dunedin wharf early next morning. Left Dunedin again on Thursday, passing through the Heads at I p.m,, and reached Lyttelton at 11 a.m. ■on Friday. Lett same night at 10. Heavy N.W. gale all night with high, sea ; toward daybreak wind shifted to S.W., but changed to a strong north-easter in the afternoon, coming round to S.E. at night. Arrived at Nelson as above.
